Changes occur at all points in our lives, but change is always a factor in life when you’re young, and happens often. Some changes to your life could be minor and some could be major, but all can have an impact on how you feel about yourself and your life, especially if they are out of your control. Changes in where you call home could include moving out to university, moving to another part of the country for work or running away from home. Changes in the home could include your parents separating, moving in with one parent or it could be you becoming a young parent yourself. Changes in how home feels could include things such as domestic violence (between your parents; between you and your parents or between you and your partner); it could include being taken into care if home is no longer safe or could include you having to care for someone else.
This section of site aims to help you cope if things at home aren’t so rosy anymore. We can give you advice on coping with changes in family life, what to do if you become homeless, find yourself caring for someone close to you, find yourself being taken into care or find yourself becoming a parent yourself. Our relationships with others shape who we are when we are young and as well as finding new positive relationships with other people you can also find yourself coping with less healthy relationships and domestic abuse.
